CCA Dance Conservatory Studio Shoot 2012

I was fortunate to be invited to shoot the dancers of the Canyon Crest Academy Dance Conservatory in their studio in Carmel Valley, CA.

It was quite an adventure with the packing up of all my studio gear and moving it to their location, setting up the gear with minimal assistance (my daughter/assistant was one of the dancers) shooting all the dancers within a short six hour period, then packing all the gear back up.

More images from this shoot can be found in the CCA Dance Conservatory Event Page.

Thanks to all the dancers for sharing their time and talent and inspiring me to capture their dynamic movement!

I received this sweet, analog beauty from my father-in-law. Currently shooting an expired roll of color Lomography film stock and will post any good images I get out of it. It's a 'fully manual' beautiful beast with NO internal light meter at all. Sunny 16 here I come!

Scripps Institution of Oceanography Pier

Pathway II

The first of my pier series I visited the pier at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in the pre-dawn hours to capture these images. The under the pier image was captured well before sunrise... the pier pilings being lit by lights on the shore. I think they were some kind of sodium vapor lamp because of the yellowish cast they put on the pilings but I'm not sure. Since I didn't like the yellow color much I tweaked the color channels until I got something I liked more.

San Elijo Lagoon Wildlife

A cloudy Sunday prompted me to spend some time closer to home shooting at the San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve.

The reserve teems with native and migratory species and there is always something great to find. Visit the San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy website to find out more about the facility and what you may find on a trip there.
